Then I will attack the rust and paint.
need 6 branch manifold and decat  got a straight through pipe, but want to hide the backbox.
inside need some work and tiding.
then the engine work will begin
so many things I have forgotten but I will post everything I change and add.

Suspected seal. Can anyone tell me what it could be or a part number please?
Iv also pulled the front arches more and dropped it another 10mm at the front. And I put 5mm tpr spacers on the back for a bit of poke.
More to follow on boot build
-
is that the flange thats fooked?
-
Don't know. I haven't took it apart to look. Was hoping just a seal. :undecided:
-
the flange usually cracks with the heat over time.i changed mine with a new gasket.cant remember how much, but wasnt that expensive.
Loving the schmidts by the way.
schmidts + mk3 =

Yeah man. I will have them. Why you selling up?
-
Feel its time for a change, the mk3 is falling to bits.
It needs sills welding on both sides and other little bits.
I need to sort this fookin running issue out first.
-
Reference the coolant leak, the flange is not that expensive from VW.
-
Wow been a long time. Haven't done much because of karting. Don't get the time if I'm not racing I'm practicing and then the missis wants to do something... Women!!!
Well since last post I've put in a high lift cam. I'm yet to get it on a rolling road but its a noticeable power increase.
Put in a mk4 leather steering wheel. Looks a lot better with the leather seats and black ABC
I've gone to 195/40/16 tyres on front 8" to get same looking stretch as the 195/45/16 on the 9"
I've changed the camber shims on the rear because had too much toe in and it killed tyres.
I've changed some relays and changed all four top mounts.
Oh I put on a decat pipe because well I don't need a cat on my car. Passes mot without one  I put on a straight pipe and magnex backbox. I don't like it and need to replace with a full system like jetex. So if anyone is selling a system pm me.
Took some photos yesterday

Soo clean, love it! Still think dragon greens the best mk3 colour
-

Yh they do lok gold in the photos, looks good! Not doin any damage to them tho?
-
Next one?! You've only just finished ya 16v
Hope not  they're stainless maybe just a bit on deep dirt. Ill get the polish out when it's dry and shine them up.
Or it's a good excuse to split them and powder coat the centers gold and the barrels red :lipsrsealed:
-
im not a fan of DG really (but my mum loves it haha)
but this looks ace mate.
-
Cheers man one day ill change the engine but I'm in no rush.
It's why I race on track so I don't race my cars on public roads.

Yh I know lol but gotta have a project on the go lol. Am thinking about building a v-twin flat tracker ready for when I get my bike licence but that won't be welcome on here .
Yh props just need a bit of elbow greece. Gold and red you say. :smug:
-
Non dub projects?
I love bikes I want to build a old triumph bobber but maybe when I'm bit older and can't race no more.
Yeah gold and red. Maybe with black bolts and center cap. Won't see the barrels but you will see a red lip when driving behind me
-
So clean! :afro:

Triumph bobber, nice! Yh same here, prefer bobbers, cafe racers, flat trackers etc to sports bikes! Think if I hada sports bike I'd kill myself so gunna stay away from them lol.
Here's my inspiration
http://www.rolandsands.com/wp/2012/09/17/pastrana-build
Sounds like a good plan with the wheels! Think you should do it!!
-
Yeah man love it!!! He's a sh!t hot builder. you ever watch the old biker build offs? I like Russell Mitchell's and Marcus waltz style. Flat colours and no chrome!
So clean! :afro:
Cheers man
-
Yh, it was biker build off day on turbo yesterday, with the golf being stuck at the garage coz of the snow all I did was watch that all day yesterday
-
Glad this thing's still about, love it! Just shows how a set of wheels can really set it off ;) 400 horse charged VR would just finish it off!
-
It's all about wheels!
I got a vr6 donor car
Time will tell my friend
-
This is what i like to hear ;) you rebuilding it? Or just dropping the lump in? My vr's been put to one side while i finish the daily :(
-
this is super clean love it! wish my paint was like this  oem + FTW
-
I bought it with a rebuild it had only done 74,000 then had bit of bottom end knocking so it got a rebuild and now on 82,000.
Ill change some parts before I drop it in.
-
I thought this was the slow one with 25k............
Still looks great though!

-
loving the gti mate love dragon green golfs :) & loving the wheels what j are they? also how much camber have you got on the rear?
Cheers man  I like the mk3 red the most  but this was to good to turn away from. Front is 8" et34 with 14mm hubcentric spacer making them et20. rears are 9" et20 I was running a 5mm spacer so et15. Removed it because running low just need to remove helpers on the front to go that extra bit more.
Set rear shims to give max negative camber. Have you got the ez shims?
For full neg camber it says to set to 20-20 then cut out the tabs. This gives you sh!t loads of toe in! I killed two new tyres in 4000 miles. (Slick)
I think I left a comment in your thread on settings.
If you get confused when you do yours pm me and ill help the best I can.
-
ahhh cool yea the red on mine is nice i did have a gti before the the wagon in pearl grey think the thread might still b on here, im lookin at the eibach camber shims which i should be ordering next few weeks, yea you did dude & cheers man much appreciated

Any time buh
