Mk2 Golf GTi 5 door roof lining replacement

Hi

I have a 91' second owner GTi and the roof lining has finally given up the ghost...dropped at the corners last year but now sagging everywhere and looks rubbish. Tried some spray glue and holds for a while but then goes again. I know it needs the foam backing removing to do it properly but...has a sunroof and unfortunately kept outside but under a cover

Did see a kit on VW Heritage which is just the fabric and by all accounts removing the old one will result in breakages and load of hassle, plus £150 for some fabric seems steep and the whole replacement process looks messy

Saw this replacement which is has a new back-board but not sure on quality?

Anyone out there tried it? Any other suggestions for a good replacement?

Someone else used to sell a complete replacement - I thought it was these guys but perhaps not:

I'd recommend having a car trimmer do it all for you, they can repair/reinforce the existing backing panel then trim it up - that's what I have done previously.

If you have the time and patience it is possible to do it yourself. I still have enough fabric (very close match in colour and texture) that is IFR, that I used. I might even have 3 cans of spray adhesive with it somewhere. If you are interested, I can dig it out for you. Make me an offer and I'll post or you can collect.

Failed the MOT today first time for bodywork rust
Both sills and front floor apparently but the rest was OK aside from sticky brakes from standing a year but new pads sort that. 162,000 miles and very original and tidy bodywork.
Sell it? Fix it? Old hoary question..what's it worth..
Project ones on ebay from 2.5 K up but looked trashed.
Tidy ones 5,6 or 7 K...minters 10 plus and even one for 30,000 sqid....
