Want to go to VW Action with the car looking half decent.. Plan was, whack some matte or satin on it so at least its the same colour all over.

Changed paint which complicated things and now I've gone OTT with wet sanding, ended up working up to 2500 grit paper on the bonnet, mostly by hand followed by a lot of rubbing compound. Looks like the whole car is going to have to end up the same!

Another just to show that the lines in the bonnet are reflections from phone lines. Sadly the bonnet isn't as straight as I thought it was and I have missed some little dings... Past caring at the moment. Note that the bonnet isn't actually fitted.

Now don't for one minute think that it's going to be showroom, there's no clear coat, oh and I'm doing it.

However, it's a lot shinier than I planned!

Got a long way to go though.........

Cheers matey... It's not fretting really and believe me, I couldn't give a feck what others thought, seen far worse and I am proud of the car, very much. Doing it for me more than anything. Need to feel that we are still progressing, even if it's a little bit at a time.  Some might think that this project drags, often I do too, but I am not in a great position to have a car like this but I am also in no position to part with it.

The Mazda still has that fecking sticker on the window, well most of it!

True that.

After this last big stint of work is done, going to spend the rest of the year driving it until the gritters come out, that'll be March then.

I have been driving it.  Done around 400 miles in it recently.  Just want to get it up to scratch.  Right now it doesn't run.  :lipsrsealed:

That's the problem, the fact that it's shiny. I'm using cans and this wasn't actually the desired result as the paint is only matte/satin. Now the cars covered in the stuff I have to match the rest of it!
