  My 154k mile, 1991, 8 valve GTi does "an indicated" 125mph but it gets so noisy that I have to back off pretty quick!! :grin:     Its as steady as a rock though, but it does make your ears bleed.

The extra bits under the bonnet will weight a bit more. Press cars usually come fully loaded - and thing like PAS will push the weight up. I wouldn't be surprised if the Recaros it doubtless had aren't heavier than the std GTi seats - better built and all that, 200lb wouldn't be difficult especially if you had air con. But the main reason I think is that the 8V was tested nearly 2 years before when there were less goodies to load it with. Clearly Beesting aerials are very heavy  :grin:

no offence lads but it's only 90kg, i lift that at the gym.

larger discs, lower suspension, even in it's basic form the valver would be heavier, ARBs etc just sounds like a lot cos it's in pounds.
