introducing..............
« on: 05 October 2005, 13:35 »
Hello all.

My name is stephen and i have just bourght a MK2 golf driver. I'm sure over the coming months i will be racking your brains for info.

Just wanted to say hi really i'm proud of the car i'll get pics up tomorrow hopefully so you can see what a good base it is. Don't quite know what i'm going to do with it yet, never owned a volkswagon before but it seems very very solid more a machine than a car if that makes any sense lol!!!!!!!

I've had a little look around and it seems a nice site

Thanks
Steve

It defo needs something it's slow the car i had before was a nova (don't say it i know) GTE which had a fair amount of engine work done, Big valve head, re-profiled cam uprated oil pump blah blah blah and being the fact it weighed the same as a mini it had power to weight ratio of popeye on something more than spinach. So it does need some work it's a 1600 one so is lacking a kick.

I've got some pics if someone can direct me to a free place where i can change the file size.

Any ideas whats the best way to get a bit more power, proberly wrong place to post but i'll await any ideas

carbs??????

photobucket.com

As for power changes, carbs is one way although setup is sometimes a b!tch. Can do the usual cam changes, sellers is doing some engine work to his driver might be worth sending him a PM when you have a postcount above ten otherwise you will not be able to see the message he sends back.

Welcome! I also have a 1.6 Driver. I've got a GTi camshaft and a K&N panel filter in mine. Definately feels a  lot better than when I bought it but I dont think it was set up right then. Also... fit GTi discs and pads on the front when you replace them. Straight swap for better stopping.
Another change some people make is to fit a Weber carb, its manual choke but apparently gives better performance and mpg.
Enjoy!
