She's pretty much a daily drive so as mush as I'd love big power figures and something exotic to show off - reliablilty is alot more important ...

They produced 150bhp with all the cat etc ... surely one fitted to a pre 90 car (so less the cat and say a powerflow manifold & exhaust system) and a bit fo fettling with the air intake and fuel/ignition maps would surely see a nice hike in power.

The only reason I say is I've heard so many people saying they're down tuned not to compete with the VR6.

i wouldnt say they were detuned, its more like they have potential for more bhp! VAG just set them up so that have good bhp & efficeny blend

when you think about it a 16v & vr6 are 2 completly different drives so would never really be in competition with each other
