Which alloy wheel cleaning products?

Hey guys,

I don't often post in this section but was wondering if you'd give me some advice on what alloy wheel cleaner I should use on some freshly refurbished BBS Pescara's (CH's). 

I don't want to use anything which might ruin the fresh finish on them, but because of all the spokes/corners they do collect a fair bit of brake dust and muck which I want to shift to keep them looking like new.

Before I rush out to Halfords and ask their guys, I thought I might get some fair and honest advice on here.

If they are freshly refurbed you want to use a sealant on them to protect the finish , then you can wash them as normal with a mild car shampoo to keep them at their best. Gtechniq C5 will offer 1yr+ protection but its an expensive outlay. Collinite 845 will give great protection for months and comes in about £15 a bottle. Other options include poorboys wheel sealant, plant polish wheel seal and shine, autofinesse mint rims. If you have never used a sealant on your wheels you are in for a great surprise, the difference it makes when cleaning is outstanding.

Thanks for that.  My local car care store sells the Poorboys Wheel Sealant for £12 and having read some online reviews people seem to be raving about it so I guess it's worth a go.

Do you think this will stop a lot of the crap sticking to the alloy, for example tar spots and the tiny metal shavings from the brake disc which then quickly stick and turn rusty?

I will clean the wheels on a regular basis, at least every 1 or 2 weeks.

it sure will , that stuff will wipe off with ease once sealed. I use poorboys on my wheels and clean once a week with just car shampoo.

+1 for PB wheel sealant. Mine is only started to 'fade' recently, after over 6months and nearly 10k on ma wheels!

keep up the protection and the wheel cleaning will be easy

if you let slide on the protection or miss a clean then you can enhance cleaning over and above a car shampoo using either bilberry or autosmart smartwheels

DO NOT use wonder wheels
