@TippEx; I’m a big fan of BBS alloys in general. IMO CH-R’s look good on both the mk6 and mk7/mk7.5 Golf and so do the SR’s in Himalaya Grey too.
Sorry for going off topic, but I’m with you on diamond cut alloys, and I really wish that car manufacturers would stop fitting these as the standard offering on many of their performance models. They might have great ‘bling’ appeal in the showroom to many would-be buyers, but for me, they’re more trouble than they’re worth;
- The finish on diamond cut alloys has durability compared to painted / powder coated alloys
- Because of poor durability, IMO they’re not really suited to winter weather conditions
- Any damage to the lacquer clear coat and water can creep over the wheel’s surface under the lacquer and you’ve got the onset of white worm corrosion
- More expensive to refurbish than painted / powder coated alloys, and because the diamond cut refurb process involves cutting away a layer of metal from the wheel’s face, they can usually only be refurbished a max of twice, otherwise structural integrity might be compromised
- They can easily be damaged by poorly maintained tyre changing equipment or inexperienced tyre fitters
On my last two cars I’ve swapped the OEM diamond cut alloys for a more durable set with a painted/powder coated set, and if when I change my car the next one has diamond cut alloys, there’s a pretty good chance I’ll do the same again.
