Got it looking half decent on Saturday.... today at work the gardener (??is that a thing) decided it was time to strim all of the grass verges and plaster my rear with grass clippings , hope it hasn't damaged the paint!

Looks really great, though it looks like they accidentally left a magic tree hanging on your rear view mirror...

My newly acquired CS40 has a black roof, but I noticed the other day it seems to have reacted badly to a cleaning product or something, it has spray marks all over it that don't polish out. I may have to wrap it!

Opened the car fine and started but then a message pinged up that the key was not detected. Given the pita last time the fob battery expired I swapped the battery there and then to save any hassle when out and about. Luckily, thanks to the good advice on here, I had a spare in the car ready to go.

Hope everyone had a good Easter!

Spent my day cleaning and then polishing, glad we had good weather all day!

Side note: I localised an annoying rattle to the plastic trim underneath the passenger seat. Anyone got any ideas on how to fix it?

Had a puncture repaired in the front n/s tyre. The pressure warning tripped over the weekend and that tyre was 4psi down on the others. All sorted though and the car is nearly ready for putting on a few hundred miles next week on a four day break in Cornwall

Investigated a second refurb on one of my alloys on the GTi due to milking over the winter. It was done before when I caught a kerb but the specialist looked at it yesterday and said he couldn’t do it as too much had been taken off previously.

Also keep looking at a Superchips remap… the car is out of warranty now and given lead times for a mk8 CS, I’m thinking about a little more power for the next 12-18 months.

That sucks. I was thinking of getting mine refurbed in a two tone powder coat to sort of replicate the diamond cut look, still on the fence as to how it might look though.

Custom map will always be better than generic superchips map

They can look very good if done well. Forum member @GolfTi had the diamond cut Austin’s on their mk7 GTI refurbished in a two tone powder coat finish a couple of years ago. It’s not cheap to get them done though as it’s a time consuming process to mask up the wheels which requires precision to get it right, and time costs money.

Link to discussion thread below that includes pictures of @GolfTi’s wheels. Apart from the absence of circular diamond cutting grooves on the face of the wheels, I think you’d be hard pressed to know they weren’t diamond cut.
