Anyone recommend a decent wax for my car to give it the total shine or at least to protect all the work that I am currently doing on it! Have used G3 to strip it back...now need to wax it...Was using turtle wax which works but only 50% job....Maguiar's tech wax 2.0???
-
I use Dodo Juice Purple Haze.
-
Poorboys natty blue
-
I'm using Dodo juice soft wax's at the momment and they are very good and very easy to use.
-
I'm a fan of the Meguiar's Tech Paste Wax 2.0 that you mentioned, but to be honest you can't go wrong with any Meg's, Dodo Juice, Poorboy's, Collinite etc etc, the list is endless of good quality waxes. It's just whatever takes your fancy.

What colour is your car and what is your budget?
-
Dont go for megs, durability is rubbish!
Wax is budget dependent
£10-20 = http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/clearkote-carnauba-moose-wax/prod_129.html
£20-30 = http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/collinite-915-marque-d-39-elegance/prod_281.html
£30- 40 = Dodo Juice (colour dependent i.e. purple haze for dark coloured cars)
£40- 50 = http://www.swissvax.co.uk/shopping/basket.asp?method=add
£50- 60 = Couldnt find anything in this price bracket oddly?
£60- 70 = http://www.vertar.com/dodo-juice-wax-polish/dodo-juice-supernatural-car-wax-plastic-200ml/
£70-80 = http://www.swissvax.co.uk/shopping/basket.asp?method=add
Im presuming you wont be spending more if you currently use turtle wax
-
as mentioned above: dodo juice purple haze or rainforest rub is good and smells well nice, nattys blue again is a good wax, all of which are very good for getting a wet look shine but durability is questionable, collinite wax's are great for protection but fail to impress in the wet look shine department.
depending on your budget i would also suggest looking at sealants aswell, they are good for protection aswell.

i get some bit's off this guy he will advise according to budget/car colours etc and won't just sell you something for the sake of it worth having a look through and an email if needed http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/specialistvehicledetailing&ssPageName=STRK:MEFSX:SELLERID

Never used wax before until yesterday. I used this:
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/collinite-no-476s-super-doublecoat-auto-wax/prod_207.html
Obviously can't comment on durability but it didn't half bring out the shine on my tornado red mk2

That will last months!!! Put another coat on once a week for the next 3 weeks and then leave it

Collonite is the best wax you can get for longevity mate. Has a relatively good finish as well. Its a very good winter wax, then have something like R222 wax for summer (last at the most two weeks!) but looks amazing for the cost!

Sorry for delay but car is diamond black....I ended up buying carplan stuff? In a green tin? I know its proper cheap but have used their products before and seemed ok? Its just a melted down wax I believe, put on then buff or wipe off?

Tip which all probably already know, if you dont have a lot of money for cleaning products then try and get one at ur budget! Using Carplan wax is USLESS! Started at 8am and still aint finished....I used a buffer to put it on which was easy and taking it off was another story! Even the buffer wont take it off! Argh am sooo annoyed...dont think its the buffer, its the flamin wax!!!!!

Lesson learnt
-

jones... I am not being funny with you, but you asked for a 'decent wax' as per your original post and thread title... and you have ignored everyones advice, links, suggestions and people vouching for certain products all the way through.
if you want a 'decent wax' then opt for something that has been suggested and see the results. else, please stop wasting peoples time. thanks.
-
sorry, but i just lol'd, loads of good advice and then buys crap and has a mare.
dont lock it guy

your big big mistake was applying it with the buffer :embarassed: you have baked it on with it
wax should only be applyed by hand

Anyone suggest a decent wax

Don't worry, just found the $hit my dad put on his ford crapri in the 1980's - will do the trick - anyone got a rotary I can borrow... :lipsrsealed:
-
 now now people  hes had a good grilling, dont make me get my rotory out
-
I bought some dodo juice rainforest rub the other day and all i can say is its amazing! the shine it gives is amazing! plus its easy to buff off!
Dan
-
 dodojuice rocks for uber shineyness, protection wise its not so great, i do a layer of collinite 845 then cap it off with either rainforest rub or purple haze
tip: dont put dodo on in full sun or if your body panels are hot,it will bake on hard and is a pig to remove.
-
You shouldnt do anything in the sun, mine stays out of the sun from start to finish!

wtf is the sun?!
some people don't have the luxury for non-sun application of goodies... just cut down drying/curing times etc and you should be ok, its not ideal but it is a means to an end
-
If i have to clean it with the sun out i do it late in the evening so the buildings cause a shadow.
If i was doing a full correction i would just leave it.
If i had to then

Its more like a detailer spray with wax properties. Good to use to top up your wax but wouldnt use as my LSP!
