I've been using the free download VCDS Lite for some time now on my 2005 GT TDi Golf but have bought a new laptop with Windows 10/ Microsoft Edge and can't get it to work . Is it not compatible ?Anyone got any ideas ?

It works, install it in XP compatibility mode. Once installed it should work OK.

Still no joy, could it be my cable is out of date ? I get a message stating no interface found.

What particular cable do you have?
I expect ebay type cheap 5-10 quid kkl stuff?
What car do you have mk4 or mk5?
-
Mk 5 and yes it's a cheap cable but it's worked perfectly for the last three years until I bought a new laptop with Windows 10
-
It won't work on a mk5 - which communicates via CAN.
You will need a microCAN or HEX+CAN cable from Ross-Tech to use full VCDS.
-
Thanks for the reply but I don't understand what you mean..... as I mentioned, it's worked perfectly until I bought the new lap top and I don't have full VCDS.

My guess is that VCDS is not connecting to the COM port that the cable is plugged in to. Try picking a different one.
Either that or the driver that creates a virtual COM port on the USB socket didn't install correctly.

What VCDS cable do you have? Lite should have never for the mk5 - it communicates over CAN, lite only supports k-line.
If it does not work on new laptop which one do you have and what exact version of windows and which VCDS lite?
I can put my full HEX+CAN cable into dumb mode and it will work on my Win10x64 machine with current build of VCDS lite....
