New tyres
« on: 11 March 2013, 21:14 »
My Federal RSR's are finally dying and not road legal any more so i will be removing them for a track day in the future as they just down to wear markers.. The RSR is a very good tyre all round except in the wet where my diesel will effortlessly spin the 235 wide tyres in most gears !...

These are being replaced with something ive not had before.. Pirelli RX7 track spec tyres with slightly firmer compound so hopefully better wear that softer spec tyres.. I know i will never get fantastic mileage out of them as they track based tyres but i cant wait to give them a test :)..

I picked up 2 tyres one with 5mm and one with 7mm tread remaining which is loads for £54 delivered ! These are about £150ish new and are normally tarmac rally tyres :)

Pic borrowed from another forum but just to show people the same tyres

Been running these now for a few weeks.. First impressions are they are excellent.. Upon first drive as to  be expected they will just spin in all gears but once been on the move for a few minutes they quickly get some heat and work great.. Not had any main issues in the wet but then again i don't ever push it in the wet..

Hoping to try and book a bit of track action at Brands soon if my shifts allow..

Definitely so far 8/10

Good to hear. What diesel do you run on trackdays?
