« on: 29 December 2010, 20:59 »
I have been using V-power diesel since i bought the car in March 10 , Its now costing 1:33 liter in London at them prices im thnking of useing normal derv?

My question is there any point in carrying on useing this stuff? I do think the engine runs better also feels a bit quicker or am i imagining this?  :undecided:

It's hard to tell the difference IMHO.

I tend to use BP if I can, it would be good to put your car on the dyno to see it's power curve vs a non premium diesel user like myself

I'm feeling that too, but it does feel nice with V-power smoother engine. I'm just so glad I have the GTD now, last year it was the Ed30 270 quid a month petrol bills

I did try V-power in my GT TDI mk5 140 and I swear it didnt like it.  Never tried it in the GTD as its like 8p a litre more for me.  Thats £4.40 more per 55 litre tank full.

This was discussed recently in the MK6 forum http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=175028.10
I think the consensus was that diesel doesn't have a higher octane as that is for petrol but it does have additives that are supposed to keep the injectors clean. Thus keeping the performance up.
So probably a placebo effect if you notice a difference on a relatively new car.

On diesels it's the cetane number / rating that your looking for - octane is for petrol
