No ignition.... f**k.
« on: 09 September 2010, 18:00 »
Aite.

I have been messing with some wiring trying to get the coolant gauge to work properly and I jumped the gun and like a tw*t earthed a wire without checking my diagrams and when I put the ignition, nothing and so now I have no ignition.

Did I blow the ignition switch?

Position 1 works, so the blowers come on, but position 2 doesn't, so the fuel pump doesn't come on, etc.

The wire I earthed (black) would normally go live when the ignition is in position 2 - so now you can see why I'm a tw*t.

I can get it running by connecting a live the black wire but as soon as I take the live off the black wire, the engine dies.

Arghhhh!

So ECU is fine, ignition switch is fine and none of the wiring seems to be damaged. There was no smoke/melted wires....

All fuses are fine.

Now I'm thinking immobiliser...

Not the immobiliser, and after looking over some diagrams, I think its the "Ignition Transformer", but I don't where it is or what it is.... yet.

There is none. Car isn't setup the same as other Mk3's, things have been relocated...

I have been through the whole fusebox now and everything is cool there, just need to find this ignition transformer...
