mark my words dsg = future.

The amount of orders we get for cars now in dsg is growing especially that some deriatives are more economical than manuals less co2 faster. The info on the hybrid plus dsg going potentially in the new coupe golf / jetta is amazing.

I like my manual gtd but would prefer a dsg if I had a gti. In there own right both great drives.

You work for VW?   In sales?

Why are you plugging DSG??

Any serious salesman/woman would know the split between the two is down to personal preference.

What's your game?

DSG makes more money, doesn't it. If it's the future and everyone wants it, VW would have the confidence to make it standard at no extra cost and make manual a discount option.

ie he knows fcuk all  smiley

afterall, hes the one that hears what potential buyers/owners are saying at the dealerships rolleyes

rather then biased owners thoughts of why they chose at the time when they bought their GTi.

I think hes more on the fence to comment carl then you are  lipsrsealed.

+1.  I test drove a DSG and a manual, for me it had to be the manual as I like to be in complete control of my car also I just didn't like the DSG but it's all a matter of opinion.  I don't think a dealer salesman should come on here stating that DSG is the future, nobody knows that.

SEAT has made DSG the only gearbox available in the Ibiza cupra models. My local dealer feels this has put a few people off.

How well is DSG doing in holding its value?  Ie how much of the option price is retained 2nd hand?

Actually a full list of what does hold value vs what doesn't would be interesting and no doubt would help undedcided prospective owners.

Eg I saw a post which claimed that leather held its value well, whereas the RNS510 wasn't worth much 2nd hand at all.

It would be interesting to know the theft ratio of the two too, as its much easier for a 10 year old (maybe thats a bit old nowadays) to drive a DSG than a manual.
