Dont know about V8 but when i change gear at full chat with the DSG it makes the coolest sound, also a few mates who i have given a lift have commented on the sound being mean.

It probably depends if the person who thinks it sounds like a V8 has ever actually heard a V8!

Golf Mk5.5 GTI. Red. Wheels. Mudflaps. Mats...and other pointless stuff nobody cares about.
Golf Mk3 16v GTI Anniversary. Not much standard. No mudflaps...they rusted away and fell off.

Can't say I've noticed it changing, but I enjoy its 'V8 growl' at low revs - when pulling away from a standstill, for instance.

never realised there was a v8 golf.
At what point did he say there was?

Good grief, lighten up, lads. I used the term 'V8 growl' to refer to the deep burble you get at low rvs, as opposed to the scream you get at high revs. Believe it or not, it DOES remind me of my old e39 M5.

I realised that the growl has changed after passing the 3k kilometre mark. It sounds more refine and smooth... More mature... like a wonderfully aged wine...
