So using that tool, an 8.5 x 19 which the majority of aftermarket wheels are, with a 45 offset, will increase the outer edge my 12mm (compared to a VW 19”)  given there’s no increase in tyre width, I’d imagine the arches will accommodate that.?

They’d be ok on the rear but having spent a fair bit of time looking at the fronts I’d not want to be the first to try an 8.5x19 ET45 on a Golf mk8.

You’ve spent £800 on the things, grow to love them!
Face it, they’re not the ugliest part of the car and are actually quite an attractive design as OEM wheels go.

really like the look of the Motec Ultralight, and looks like they will fit according to their fitment guide

interestingly, they do an 8x19 ET 48, which i assumed would be perfect, but it doesn't list it for the golf 8, so i wonder whether it would have issues clearing the callipers

Luckily i didnt - it was between a car with 18" and HK and a car with 19" and DCC for same price.
I chose DCC as my previous car (M140i) without adaptive suspension was terrible...

I was never going to be happy; the stock wheels are terrible and the 19" are black - it was a sh!t situation regardless!!

HK doesn't cost as much as DCC and 19's...

My point exactly - they were offering me a car with 19" and DCC for the same price
