The R is so expensive it's laughable now!

I'm still not sure why it's priced more than the new S3 though?

This is exactly what I don’t understand. I’m just glad I bought a 7.5R as it was a car I’d always fancied owning, even though I’m a gti person at heart. I’d never be able to buy one now.

Not seen those "racing pack" options yet for the clubby mentioned.

The Akra exhaust (for the R) is £3k, wheels and delimit is in the "R performance pack" which is £2k.... I'd guess they might bundle both for a bargain price of £4k maybe...

48 2021 I'd say was week 48 of FY21? which is first week in March 2021.

Well I know SOP is Start of Production but I’m actually guessing that wk48 of 2021 is by Calendar year and so this won’t appear until Nov 2021.

I say that as I’ve previously read that VW tends to do model year changes from wk 22 of a given year and that is May time. So I think it’s for this time next year.

Also the German configurator briefly had some extra wheels showing and when you clicked on it it came up for a reference with Edition 45. I posted a thread with a picture in Mk8 forum of VWROC site. Maybe it’s too early to be putting 2 and 2 together, but this racing package etc might be linked to Edition 45 and they won’t be releasing it now until late next year?

What does anyone think 🤔 ?

That makes sense to me. Vw could make the Ed45 really special before a final Ed50 where I reckon the Golf will end. As said earlier it’ll be interesting to see if the Ed45 will be based on the CS or the regular gti.

This is only my opinion, but I would expect an ED45 to be Clubsport based given all the GTi Anniversary models I can remember (since the Mk4 certainly) have had more bhp than the standard GTi.

I see there are black Estoril's in the Irish brochure:

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjW6f_czLTtAhVzURUIHXEkCk8QFjAAegQIAhAC&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.volkswagen.ie%2Fidhub%2Fcontent%2Fdam%2Fonehub_pkw%2Fimporters%2Fie%2Fmodels%2Fproduct-guides%2F2020%2F2020-11-06%2F201104_TheAll-NewGolf8_GTIGTDGTE_MY21.pdf&usg=AOvVaw0poY9Z28FVonD1fCWOsu1e

I'd be tempted to have those just to avoid bloody diamond cut wheels!

Me too. Not a big fan of black alloys, but IMO they’re preferable to anything diamond cut with poor durability and almost inevitable white worm corrosion 2-3 years down the line.

Yep I’d go for them too. Pretoria’s are the first non diamond cut alloy I’ve had in ages and wouldn’t want to go back.
