Hiya. Some of you may know that I have a mk2 Jetta, I Havnt started any threads for it before as I Havnt really touched it. I plan for it was to put an abf init but due to dwindling funds I think that's going to be off the cards . So I think the plan now is low and slow . Here's some pics of it in its current state.
Its a 1.8 manual.

The main problem with it (and the reason I'm not driving it) is that the gearbox wines in third and fith, I'm gunna put new oil in the gearbox and see if that sorts it and if not I'm gunna take it to my local garage and get them to see if it needs a new box.
Then when that's sorted, tax and mot it, wind the coilovers right down, stretch some tyres over the new wheels and then off to some shows
Thanks for reading, any comments/ advise welcome.
Cheers
Josh

Update on the Jetta, had a good day on it yesterday followed by a bit of a sh!t day onit today
Firstly, the head lights were like candles so fitted a updated headlight loom and a set of xenons, much better! thumb
Then I got a remote central looking kit from rclick, took about three hours bcoz I had to fit an actuator in the door but got it fitted, wired in and working! :nbn
Today I thort I'd have a go at the paint, as you can kinda see in this pic, I had replacement door and showed up how bad the paint is on the rest of the car
(http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h364/murrayminf/4cac08f2-5e64-4ef8-8ce5-033d314ac8ca.jpg)
So I attacked the sh!te paint work, armed with 1500 and 2000 grit wet and dry and mags compound and polish, and look what I found under the sh!te paint!!
The original paint! Looks like the Jetta had a very bad respray down the top half of the drivers side. But well happy with that.
Now we're it started to go wrong. Went to unlock the car, with my new fob, and nothing! Didn't lock or unlock. So off with the door card, again! Long story short had to refit the actuator, twice!
Then after doing this I saw that the drivers rubber mat was wet!? Wired as it dry out, took it out and was greeted with a massive puddle in the foot well, so gutted to whole drivers side of the car,
(http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h364/murrayminf/09d6e072-3538-4a54-93b2-c225add98478.jpg)
(note the wet ground, and green moldy sound deadening)
Ive put it own to the door membrains as both o/s doors were hanging off, so I ducttaped them all back on. Hopefully that'll sort it.
That's all folks!
-
Got it all dried out today and the interior back together, changing the gearbox oil tomorrow and then MOT time!
-
I also attacked the arches with a heat gun yesterday
(http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/h364/murrayminf/4c745883-ddf1-476f-8f39-01f86ee507b5.jpg)
-
Booked it on for mot on Thursday, finger crossed
-
Good luck with the MOT mate hoping it sails through nice work heat gun on arches works a treat!
-
Cheers bud. The only thing that came up in the last mot was a cracked number plate so hopefully Itl be okay.
Yh was well suppriced with how well the heat gun worked, makes a hell of a difference!
-
Just dropped it off to the garage. First time I drove more then a mile and must say I handles a hell of a lot better then the mk3!
-
Well.. It failed the mot , on a number plate bulb, perished rear break hose and a ball joint, so getting it sorted and shoved back in for another mot.
-
Thats not too bad mate!
Get it sorted then retest!
