Hi,
hello to everyone on the site. I have a problem I hope you can help me with.
I recently bought an '02 Mk4 1.8. I bought the car cheap and expected to pay out to bring it up to spec. The car needed quite a few minor repairs to get it through its MOT and I had a full service done by a mechanic I trust.
I still have a problem though. On low engine speeds the car becomes very "lumpy" and wants to cut out. This is an intermittent problem, always the most difficult to trace.

My mechanic has told me that the car has a non standard egr valve, and if this has been incorrectly fitted or is faulty, this could be the problem. If so, how easy (and cheap) is it to get the car back to standard.

Another solution might be to replace the ignition coils. This looks fairly easy (haynes manual) but when I look on websites I see more than one alternative coil. None of which have serial numbers matching those already in the car.

Any suggestions.

Thanks
