Cheers JV!

I bought this car on 23/10/2011 and have loved it ever since!
Only covering a mere 1500 miles in her first year, it had been well looked after and was tidy as hell.
She has been serviced every year at a main dealer until the pervious owner had her which she was then serviced at a local garage.
Every receipt from new and only had 59,000 miles on the clock.

I wish I had saved the photos from the advert on auto trader but basically she looked like this just without the DC sticker haha.

The 17inch Audi TT alloys were put on by the last owner but that was the only "modification" that had been done.

After having the car for just over 2 months, some muppet pulled in to the side of me (they were in the wrong) and drove off, leaving me with this.

After spending £250 of my own money she was repaired. Like new.

After telling myself I wasn't going to change a single thing on her I decided that my first modification would be some Eibach pro springs. I thought the 30mm drop would be a nice subtle touch and make the ride a lot better.

Got these for £140 delivered from demon tweaks.

Cheers to Chris Robbinson for coding these in for me.
I didn't have an outside temperature sensor so this was on my list of things to get sorted.

So, next was to get some nice rear lights. I know lots of people have them but they look great. Think I payed £140 from the dealers for US Spec rear lights.

Cleaned the back up so much and went well with the colour of my car I think.

At the same time i did this, i also got a groupon deal. 2 wheels refurbished for £48.
Both front alloys were looking tired so i got them done.

It was time to change the suspension to be on coilovers. I wanted it to sit lower and after much debate I put her on to JOMs. I've heard nothing but good things about the quality for the price.
So, off came the eibachs and on went the JOMs only to find out the rear adjuster was a duff.
Put them on anyways but the back sat slightly high!

Straight after we fitted the new suspension, the good old 1.6 chocolate gearbox cracked and let oil into the clutch.
Gearbox £225, borg and beck clutch £110 and blood, sweat and tears!!!
My bro haha
(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y300/xtetx/4e9abd55.jpg)
The crack causing the slipping clutch.

Then we were up till 1am in the pitch black, rain and cold.

This got fitted and everything was sweet. Runs so much better.

In the mean time whilst waiting for my new adjuster I bought some pressed plates from Carbon Motive and some plain surrounds off eBay- look sweet as!

I then got a new adjuster and dropped the back as far as the adjuster would let me.

So I got in touch with aRd off ukmkivs to get my outside air temperature sensor and stalk fitted. Drove 2 and a half hours to Thornaby from Manchester.
Not got proper picture but you can see it works!

424 Miles out of a full tank. Not bad for a 1.6 16V!

So this Saturday, im back off up to see aRd (Ray) to have remote central locking / alarm siren fitted in to her(this will go off when the doors open, it wont have motion sensors in) - this will  also include auto windows up. This will be great as i currently have 1 key that i have to unlock by using the door locks.

At the same time i will be fitting the Bora vents + loom which i bought off ebay.

I have just recieved a smooth rear bumper which i bought off the forum from ads1 - not opened it yet but will be doing when i get home.
Next month this will be getting sprayed and fitted.

Bora Vents + Loom

Old Vents - Out

Loom In / Ray doing his thing with my alarm. The siren i had bought was a duff and stupid me left feedback and to make things worse, they key was a Chinese copy and that was a duff too and i had only gone and left feedback. Lesson learned, don't leave feedback till you KNOW its working!!
Luckily ray had some spare bits i bought off him.

We have illuminated vents!

I have been waiting for some flocked dash surrounds to be done off Neil @ Carbon Motive for a while now. My friend Tia dropped them round this evening as she had been down to see him.
After taking the whole dash apart nearly i have finally got it sorted! looks a lot cleaner inside now. Hard to photograph though!

I've sent it back to the body shop and is being re-sprayed!

Also had a new windscreen as there was a big crack in it due to a stone chip cracking!

On Friday 24th August night i had seen an engine on ebay which was finishing Saturday morning at 12.30am.
I set my alarm for 12am and in the last minute, i bidded on it and i won it!
It came with everything all ancilleries, k03s turbo, gearbox, gear linkage, subframe, brakes, struts, drive shafts, ecu, clocks, key, and barrel. The only thing it didnt come with is a downpipe and exhaust!

I got my mate and his van to come and help me collect everything from Widnes where it was based - and we were off!
Got it back in and couldn't have been happier, its the next step to my project and feels like im getting some where with it!

My 2 mates buzzing that we had got it back:

and me haha:

My MOT was due the day after on the 25th August, i really needed some new tyres so i bought 3 brand new tyres! Urgh!!

The car went in for the MOT and passed straight away, only advisory was the airbag light which i am getting sorted out

So we got the engine in after a days graft!
whilst converting it over we changed the cambelt and water pump.
we tried to test start it but realized that a wire that reads the RPM was destroyed so the car wouldn't turn over!
Hopefully get the part tomorrow and find out if there is anything else wrong.
I suppose its the trouble shooting period and hopefully there isn't too much trouble!

So since the transplant had a few issues but its all good.
Replaced temp sensor, maf sensor, and thermostat.
Running a lot better now, bought injector seals from VW and changing them tomorrow as the 3rd injector has a leak! Urgh!
Once I'm done it will be running sweet, slowly getting there!

Yesterday I had the injector seals changed, gearbox oil changed, engine oil, coolent changed and added Radweld as there is a tiny leak from the radiator (getting replaced next month), 2 new injector plugs as the previous ones were melted (go knows how), brace fitted under exhaust properly.

Got a picture of engine in as it stands, sorry it's blurry it's pitch black outside, needs cleaning up but I am gettin there.

I have ordered a silicone breather pipe as mine was melted and like mush. Currently made a DIY breather pipe out of some other pipes and runs fine. This will be replaced as soon as it arrives tomorrow.

Car runs on the dot now. So happy, after all the hard work and heart ache getting it perfect, I've finally done it.

Now time for mods!

after replacing the breather pipe that goes in to the crank case, i realized that the pipe attached below was cracked to hell.
over the xmas period i have changed that with a brand new replacement pipe and changed the water flange pipe.
also i have had a brand new tyre fitted to the front near side!

broken flange pipe of doom! water had gone everywhere!
replaced it with a brand new part from VW.

this is how it has looked at my house over xmas haha!

as you can see ive started to polish the manifold but ive only used a 200 grit sandpaper at the moment, going to keep going with that untill all of the pitting has been sanded out, then use a 400, 1000, and then 2000 grit to try and get it looking fresh!

i am fully aware i need a bigger battery! its small as anything!

how she sits for now, need to fit the front grill back on!!

Last night a friend and i changed the radiator as it was leaking coolant. I've been putting it off for a short while as it wasnt bad really, it was a tiny leak, which then became worse, so it was time!

Few more bits to sort out before my remap at Rtech in may.

Also got some springs off a Sharan to fit on my rear calipers to stop them sticking in the cold.

Part numbers:

1K0 615 295 (offside)
1K0 615 296 (nearside)

I will update with photographs once i have fitted them!
The guy at VW had put the wrong sides on the labels, the actual part numbers and which sides the springs fit are above.

Quick update!

Had brand new wishbones put on, new dimpled and grooved disk on front with Mintex pads.
Changed the drive shaft on near side as the cv joint was dead.
Also need to change the drive shaft on the offside as there is a grim knocking sound.
Low life problems!!

New disks and pads just need to get slight surface rust off, all good now!

Old near side CV!

Destroyed with grit and dirt!

Also put the GT TDI spec interior in.
Needs cleaning tbh but it's really good condition, nothing I can't clean up!

The GT TDi interior was pretty dirty to be honest so I've decided to take all of the covers off and put them in the washing machine.

Started off with the rear pull out seat as this is smallest!

Before I washed it:

Then pulled the plastic tabs that secure the seat to the frame out:

Peeled back the seat cover and unhooked the rods that hold the cover to the foam:

Then removed the rods from the seat cover so they don't destroy the fabric in the wash:

Washed the seat cover and reversed the above steps and put it back together. It has come up like new!

You can see the comparison of the cleaned cover compared to the dirty cover. Really happy just loads more to do now!

Had a knock under my car, changed both my drive shafts with BRAND NEW shafts this time to ensure it didn't happen again, only to notice that my sub frame had dropped a bolt on each side.
The car has been off the road for a few days whilst I order the new bolts.

(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y300/xtetx/null_zps3666059f.jpg) (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/xtetx/media/null_zps3666059f.jpg.html)

I also changed the power steering fluid yesterday so this is nice and fresh.

Whilst I was stranded at home all weekend I decided to take my passengers seat out, strip it and put the covers through the wash.

Sunday at 8am:

(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y300/xtetx/null_zps0abceaf1.jpg) (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/xtetx/media/null_zps0abceaf1.jpg.html)

This photo does not really show how dirty the seat was.

2.5 hours later

(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y300/xtetx/null_zpsf76f7f12.jpg) (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/xtetx/media/null_zpsf76f7f12.jpg.html)

8 hours later after a nice wash in the washing machine. I also used a razor to remove all bobbles, lint rolled it then vacuumed it.
Like new! Just the drivers seat to do now.

(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y300/xtetx/null_zps647dbb30.jpg) (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/xtetx/media/null_zps647dbb30.jpg.html)

Lastnight we had a lads car night.
We changed my spring isolators for ECS poly bushes and changed my rear bump stops for Powerflex.
The main mission was to put my camber shims on, but there is a major problem with the so called "Eibach" shims as I will will explain.

Once a camber shim is put in place behind the hub, the instructions tell you that you need to put a washer behind the caliper carrier to balance out the negative camber shim, otherwise the hub is cambered to a negative degree and your calliper isn't. So my friend Ste said it's going to be hard to get the exact amount of negative camber on the calliper if the kit doesn't provide a calliper camber shim.
This said I've spent 33.50 on 2 pieces of plastic and there asking you to use a washer!

We decided lets do what the Mk2 lads do and use some washers to ensure that the camber is exactly the same on the hub to the calliper. I'm sure metal washers are better than a wafer thin piece of plastic.
We measured the thickness of the shim at each side and used washers which mirrored the job that the shim would do. We put 2 washers at the top which were thinner than the 2 washers we used at the bottom to get around about a -2 degree camber.

Plastic shim, sending it back and getting my £33.50 back haha

This is how it looks once done.

As you can see the washers are doing the exact same job as the 2 shims would do.

ECS rear spring isolator poly bush in its home!

So the photo you have all been waiting for. It was dark so it's a rubbish picture but you can see the camber.
I will get a better on in the light today.

Well it's been a while since I updated.
To be honest I've been having a nightmare with the car.

Firstly I had a leaking caliper and also a dead master cylinder which = no brakes. Then I had no headlights and to top it off my 1.6 battery has given up the ghost.

Thanks to Baxxy he sorted me some calipers and a master cylinder!

After many hours in rain and darkness over 3 days I've finally got brakes again. Note to self, when fitting a master cylinder just send it to a garage! Such a tight space to work in!

Anyways my genuine anniversary side skirts are being collected tomorrow!

Here is a sneak peak!

Still on my list is to have the decat light mapped out and sort out my temp sensor as it stopped working when we converted the engine.

Today I went to see the golf father himself Ray aka aRd.
He supplied and fitted me a full FIS set of clocks, and a US spec 4 button key with panic function to set the alarm off at the touch of a button.
Was great to catch up, talk Mk4s, drink coffee and have a laugh!

Ray also had a look at my temperature sensor which stopped working after my engine conversion, this turned out to be a faulty earth and a break in the wire, also the temp sensor was dead haha so Ray fixed this for me.

Wheels on, 20mm spacers at rear and 7mm spacers at front. Going to go 10mm at the front and change the near side rear to a 15mm (or whatever makes the fitment look right) as the rear beam is off centre and it sticks out too much in comparison to the offside.

Need to replace a front tyre and get them all balanced. A job for next week!

Make the car look much tougher!

Benny Banks has broken his car after an engine failure and donated me 2 brand new silicone pipes for the n75 and diverter valve. Cheers for this Ben!
Baxxy collected these for me so a big shout out to Baxxy.

Not in to the red but they were free, I have ordered some black silicone tape and I am wrapping all of the pipes so they will look oem.

I also am going to tidy up the injector loom it is so untidy!

Had some issues with the car recently.
It cut out on me whilst driving and whatever it was killed my Ecu.
It had been dropping the map when starting up and many times I had to turn the engine off and back on for it to load the map.

Thankfully between Baxxy and aRd ray they hooked me up with a new Ecu and got me started again.

Ray tested my Ecu and said that it was toasted.

Baxxy came to the rescue and fixed all the problems, thanks for this man.

Car ran ok for another week before cutting out on me again. It wouldn't start again and I was ready to break the car.

RAC man came out, and found this short on my electrics, fixed it, replaced a fuse, and she started.
Tipped him some money because without him actually looking into the issue, I would have stripped the car.

The mad thing about my car dying on me, was I had just picked up some brand new xxr 527 alloys with brand new tyres. I was gutted at the time and actually sold them whilst waiting for the RAC to come, luckily it was to my best mate so he was fine when I said I am keeping them haha.

Brand new ball joints! Had to grind one side off as the Alan key part had rounded off!
Big Ste and his grinder to the rescue.

Looks much cleaner now just need rub strips.

Bought a remapped Ecu since my last one apparently died.
It's been mapped by AMD Essex and has print outs showing just over 220bhp.
Going to get this coded in and get my car on the rollers in the near future.

First on my list before this is to replace the half moon seal (which is leaking oil) and plum in my catch can after it's been resprayed.

Still got loads of bits and bobs laying around the house which will be out on just finding the time seems to be the hardest part !!!
