Title: Mk3 GTI 16v ABF running faults
Post by: Vwgolfgti83 on 20 July 2020, 22:04
I’m having a few issues with my 16v, it has developed an intermittent misfire. I’ve Owned the car for 6 years now and in that time most stuff has been changed but only recently it’s started to misfire. The one thing I’ve noticed and it’s always done this, is the car cranks for about 3 seconds before starting, not sure if it’s normal or not. I recently replaced the crank sensor and fuel pressure regulator and since the car now has a misfire. Plugs leads and coil have all previously been replaced. Would like to do a fault code read but being OBD1 it’s a bit tricky. Anyone had any similar faults?

Difficult to read the fault memory as it’s obd1 and most fault code readers only work on obd2

could be a vacuum leak..check ecu & fuel pump relays too, if you changed the crank sensor then maybe it needs tightening?? was it a cheap one bcos they dont last long at all
