Thanks @Watts. A forum member over on uk-polos.net forum has the 17” black version on their GTI and made the comment that they think they’re quite OEM in style, so maybe that’s why they suit the car.

I’d had the wheels bookmarked many months before I actually got the car. Being aftermarket alloys, even though the centre bore is standard VW size at 57.1, the centre caps are an odd size, so it’s looking unlikely that I’ll find VW centre caps. It doesn’t really bother me though.

Maybe you should be making your confession over in the ‘what detailing haven’t you done today’ thread . Perhaps you can treat it to a wash over the Christmas period; consider it as your Christmas present to your car.

Exonian wanted me to post up a picture of my car. Do you think he’ll find the one in my earlier post as it’s on the Detailing forum board? I don’t think this is a place he visits much, if ever .

I don't think I can manage making that confession twice! It's been a difficult over the last few months, it's either been raining on my days off or if my day's off coincide with my OH's we have been going on days out. Not been feeling 100% either a fair bit of the time so the chances of washing the car have been few and far between. Still, it'll get done eventually and will look just as mucky again a few days after!

Exonian does look in I think but given there's been nothing for so long your post will be easily missed. Might be worth posting it in the what have you done in the MK7 section, I think there'll be a fair few people interested.

I think if it's so thick to be able to stay on for 10 minutes or more then it does sound like it needs diluting more. 5 minutes should be long enough. Even if it doesn't look like the snowfoam is shifting much it will be getting rid of some muck and losening what's left. Definitely worth doing, I too will try and give it a second go if there is enough left. You could also consider a citrus pre-wash too, not tried it myself but it does get recommended. Ultimately it's worth shifting as much muck as you can touchless.

Finally got the weather albeit still a bit cold and more importantly the time to give the car a wash since taking delivery.

Bilt Hamber Auto foam (no pre-rinse).
Bilt Auto wash
Decontamination using Korrosol
Clay bay although.
Scholl s40

Good effort especially considering current temperatures! It looks like you tried to post an image, perhaps it was the wrong code you pasted?

Haven’t got a photobucket account so tried Lightroom. Obviously hasn’t worked

Shame we can’t just use photos straight from my IPad.

Spent all day cleaning ,polishing, waxing etc

Used auto finesse products they worked well(were a gift). But not as good as some of my usual products.

Wanted to get it waxed having just been repaired at the body shop.

Pleased with the results but will look better when my new wheels arrive.
