3.5mm aux input in dash
« on: 20 November 2007, 15:59 »
Hi guys,

Will be spending the next few days putting a 3.5mm input jack in one of the blank spaces by my ash tray (mk3 gti) to link in my mp3 player etc. So was wondering if anybody else has done this and if it was worth putting up a step by step guide?? I know i could just have a 3.5mm jack dangling out somewhere connecting into the back of the stereo, but thought this would be a bit cooler !! What do you think??

Cheers

Christian

i went to maplins and got me one of those chassi mount 3.5mm female headphone sockets n mounted it in by means of drilling a centre hole in one of the spare plastic ports. looks fine..but havent got it running as yet. i soldered on an end from an original phono cable to link to the mount and the other end would initially plug into  the phono line in on the back v my radio.however...i have a BUS Line In which wont work that way..i need another connecter in between which plugs into the CD changer port in which is that round changer plug type connecter which then gives me the phono line in i'm after...havent got to that stage yet either but have mounted the headphone jack plug in though.
was meaning to do a PSP installation..got hold of a PSP bracket/holder that was adjustable but havent even got round to puttin that in as i have bin havin problems with my PSP headphone socket n dont see to work when puttin in headphones....n that will make it pointless if i cant get that to work!
I'l see how it happens. I'l try post a pic of it up to show u how it looks but its nuthin great but way mor tidier than havin a dangling cable if you get it to work!
Why pay big bucks when you can do it yourself???
