boardlord - so, in effect, if not keeping the car beyond it's warranty period, just thrash it and pass onto some poor unsuspecting bu**er who buys it then?

Anyone buying a second hand hot hatch that think's its been loving cared for all its life is just kidding themselves  :undecided:

He's only being honest!

If you buy a used car, how do you know how it's been driven? You don't. You can get a gut feel by the overall condition but you don't know if the previous owner warmed it up every drive or thrashed it from cold. Absolutely impossible apart from in one situation. You buy it off someone you actually know.

I think this is right. Guy at work told me I could thrash it mercilessly as it's just a lease. I told him I didn't think that was fair on the next owner.
I will take sensible precautions like making sure it's fully up to temp and gradually increasing the revs for the first couple of hundred miles but not going to worry now beyond that. I won't be driving that quick that often anyway.

Haha. Nice one!
It’s an interesting question- whether modern cars need running in or not.
If you’re interested, this is a good video-
