:o I've had my mk3 gti for about a year and am starting to mod it.
I want to lower it first and have decided to go for a fully adjustable coilver suspension kit, i have a spax rsx kit in mind, these are about 500 quid, i know there are many makes available for this sort of price, koni, kw, bilstein and more.
Any recomendations? what sort do you have?
I'm thinking of fitting the kit myself, does'nt seem that hard. Has any one fitted a kit? tips? or should a pro fit?
cheers.

I have heard that koini are ment to be very good. I have got a price for fully adjustables fitted for ?490. I think some one is trying to rip you off at that price

Who gave you that quote?

I have koni on a mk 2 and they are very good on handling. expect a bumpy ride compared to standard or lowered springs though! ;)
-
Some confusion going on here me-thinks :)
ck16v is talking about coilovers with 500 quid plus being the right kind of price. The only ones considerably cheaper than that is the Raceland kit.
stoat on the other hand is talking about 'normal' suspension ie Koni top adjustables commonly used with Eibach springs. The price he quotes with fitting is probably about right.
Personally, I would go for getting either set up pro fitted.

???I have another question. I'm uncertain about the "on car adjustment" of the fully adj. coilovers, can this be done from the top, ie from the engine bay/ boot, or do you have to remove wheels etc. appreciate if you could clear this up mate, cheers.

On the koni you can adjust the dampness from the top like you said. to adjust the height you need to take the wheel off and use the spanner provided.

:Right, now that makes sense, all i gotta do now is get my cash out, cheers mate.
