New Mk6 R owner.(not yet but soon)
« on: 07 November 2017, 04:24 »
hello all,

im looking at buying a mk6 R at some point in the future(as soon as my current car sells),
after driving both manual/dsg im 100% set on dsg.(3dr/non sunroof/ideally with cruise/nav) the rest is irrelevant as ill be doing some weight saving/ring prep.

are there any things i should be looking out for when buying one? any major issues/faults?

cheers
Pete

Have you looked at prices for a second hand mk7r as there's not much between them

But Mk7 .:R's are like dog poo. They get everywhere.

When was the last time you saw a Mk6 .:R? The Mk6 will command a much better resale value due to it's rarity and future classic status.

Finding one with a sunroof may take some doing, but cruise and nav are easily retro fitted.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Main thing to check is that the heldex is actually working.
Engines the same as edition 30 mk5 and has few weaknesses.
Water pump: Check coolent level is not at min as this may indicate pump leaking.
Air con: check works as if not serviced can cause compressor failure.
