110/130/150 Golf GT TDI

What are the main differences/extras you get between these cars and what are the differences between the engines?
I drive a Citroen Saxo VTR atm and want to go diesel for a while to save money but still have some nice speed, so also anything to look out for/common faults, when buying these cars?

Cheers Mike

Apart from the obvious horse power it will be a game of luck as to what 'level' interior you get I believe.

Do a quick search for the faults etc.

the 110 engine is an older type of fuel delivery. more reliable but a littke less refined. i have one myself thats mapped with pd130 turbo and other bits and the thing flies, keeps with nazda rx8's and things but still returns 50ish mpg
the 130 and 150 engine is the newer type. they are slightly quieter and more refined but often suffer from a thing nicknamed chocolate camshaft syndrome. its basically a cam wear problem due to the fuel injection system. they do have a 6speed box though and are VERY mappable
milage usnt really a problem, mine has 187k but still good. they are all generally gt tdi which means better seats and body coloured bits on bumpers etc.
general problems are the door modules go nuts causing locking issues and interior lights not coming on when the doors open, sometimes the wipers go mad which is just a relay thats about really!
theres no shortage of em, but remember the a3's and seat leons are the same car
i think i love you.....

150 also has a FMIC whereas the 130 has a small SMIC like a 20vT.

All depends on how it's been looked after. Cheap oil and crap servicing will destroy any engine, look after it and it will look after u  :smug:

Also you can get a lower spec PD the 100 and 115 i have the 100 with 130 bits on and its nigh on identical to a 130 performance wise apart from it being only 5 speed whereas the 115 have 6 speed ( or the large percentage of them does )
