Title: fitting a cd
Post by: shady on 26 May 2003, 02:50
I,ve recently fitted a kenwood cd player to my 93 golf only for it to throw a wobbler. I,ve since been told the ariel on my golf should have a built in amp which sends too strong a signal to the unit and is a common problem when fittingr after sales audio. is this correct and how can i get round it
cheers

It is true that there is an amp fitted. On the aerial lead before the adpator that plugs into the stereo there should be a cylinder type thing (technical speak) which is part of the wire. i.e. instead of just a plain cable there will be a bulge on the end. Not sure how you can get round this other than to cut it off and reattach the plug to go in the back of the stereo. Alternatively just pop into aaudio shop and ask.....even Halfords monkeys might know!!
