The Going Rate

Daft question maybe and border-lines with the question
"how much is it worth"
BUT
How much should i expect to pay for a 2000 1.9 SE TDI (cannot go for GT or GTI as insurance) I've seen a fair few on the bay and autotrader for under the 2k mark. Is this reasonble or should expect major faults for this price?
Any help, guidance or a point in the right direction is appreciated

depends on how much you want one. If there are loads on autotrader you have models, colours, spec etc to compare. Guide prices mean nothing if theres nothing on the market for that price.
