hey guys i have a 89 gti that has fold out pockets in the doors i want to put some speakers in there is ther an original vw part i can fit to take speakers. ???
anybody know what size speakers will fit

yeah there is a vw part. you remove the crap door drawer things and replace them with speaker grilles that have mount points for 5.25" (13cm) speakers.

The speaker grills should just fit in place of the door pocket, go for a 2 part componet set up if you can, woofer in the door, tweeter in the dash.

has anyone found anything those door pockets are good for other than ripping out and filling with speakers anyway? just curious.

Don't bother with door speakers and expensive pods, instead put some decent 4" speakers in the top dash mounts. I've just put some Infinity ones in - admitedly not the cheapest! (cost ?40 on Tottenham Crt Rd) and they sound excellent. :o

Get yourself a stanley knife and some insulation tape, always works for me...

mind you, wouldnt do that on my MK1 but if its a MK2 go for it man.................................. ;D
