« on: 05 October 2008, 13:11 »
Hi nick
my old man has just got a 1.4tsi 170bhp mk5 and we were wondering how much it would be for a remap and what sort of gains your looking at.
Cheers mate

Yep. At (i think) 4000rpm the clutch on the supercharger disengages and the turbo takes over. The remap gains aren't huge number-wise, with about 20 horses and torques. But what the map does is holds the boost much longer in the rev range so it feels less like a diesel and more like a GTI!

LOL a 1.4 with turbo and supercharge.. Bring it down to the unit I want to power run it.

From what my German supplier says, they are brilliant engines.  Only last week they managed to crack/hack in to the ecu which is a brand new gerneration of Bosch MED.17 (really advance hi-tech stuff) but as far I as I know the Maps are straight forward.
Only issue is SAFE reading/ writing. The software update for my tool is 2000euro+. But I am waiting until I have seen some hard evidence that remapping the MED17 is safe for the ecu.

So Comming soon will be the brand new EDC17 VAG TDI and  MED17 TSFI / FSI remaps.

Tbh i like the car how it is lol. Considering ive got a 2.0ltr snail. It seems like a flying machine compared to that.
Fuel economy is supprisingly good aswell.
The best thing is the boost gauge in the dash lol. It goes mad when your booting it.
You can feel the a slight lag when the supercharger disengages and the turbo kicks in but then it pulls like a train.
