What's this pipe?
« on: 17 January 2012, 10:26 »
Sorry for my ignorance but can anyone let me know what this pipe is in my engine bay of my 16V GTI. There's a great big hole in it so I'm presuming I need to replace it but don't know what it is in order to find the part. Also, is it easy to fit?

Not sure if this has anything to do with it but when the car has been running for a while there seems to be a smell - odd smell, maybe a bit like burning rubber, coming from the engine department. Could it be this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Oil breather

Thanks for this. Is this just a single hose then. I can't seem to find it on eBay or elsewhere.

Yes it is a single hose, you'll be able to pick it from the dealer I got one a while ago think it was about £14 took 5 mins to fit. Should resolve the smell once changed mine was the same.

Thanks so much for letting me know. I'll get down to the dealers at the weekend.
