Id got for 8000k mate, they give very good light output with a slight blue tint to them which looks nice imo. I never got pulled by the police when i had them on my golf, did get flashed a fair bit but hey ho.

Anything above 4800k is actually putting out less light. 8000k is blue and ultimate chav! I full beam people with 8000k hids as they are so annoying, i can assure you full beam real xenons are worse as well  :laugh:

I Wouldnt class the 8k HID's as "chavy", they have a stylish slight tint to them, i would say anything like 10k or above is more people trying to get silly colour lights rather than any actual lighting gains.
