Downshift “parp”
« on: 18 March 2020, 23:45 »
Again apologies but after trying numerous search words and going back 20 pages I can’t find an answer but equally I’m sure it will have been covered.
The  7.5 on test drive felt like it wanted to cough on the downshift. Now I understand this happened on the 7 but emissions on the 7.5 mutes it.  Is it recoverable and can you have it mapped back in, a subtle downshift shout would sound nice I think

Pops and bangs can be mapped back in but I think you'd need to remove the gpf too.
TCR, Pure Grey, DCC, Dynaudio and Climate Screen.

Seems to be plenty of tuners who map some exhaust pops/crackles/rice crispy sounds in.

DMS are very reputable. 230ps model making 305bhp which is a nice bit of extra power plus exhaust sound.

That’s my Golf in the picture...  I probably should have washed it first.

It does make a better noise, especially in sport mode. It’s not a huge difference, but it’s there.

I get rev matching on downshifts, with my DSG, when in S gearbox mode and manual. VW engine noise is a bit behind the curve just now, but it needs to be switchable IMO. Couldn’t live with pos, bangs and crackles all the time!

I find the pops, bangs etc very discreet. I have the soundaktor switched off, which might help. I also find using the different drive modes make no difference to exhaust noise what so ever too.

I notice pops & bangs most when I drive in manual, and change up a gear at fairly high revs while pushing the car a little harder than “normal/relaxed” driving. Then I get a nice clear parp, that’s very amusing! That will happen to the same volume regardless of which drive mode I’m in. Even comfort. I don’t think sport gives me any thing extra in terms of sound now the fake soundaktor is switched off.

Do others find the same?
