Because the car was used for competition in its heyday it only had the one for the driver... i binned it!  :sad:  probably stupid i know but it wasnt in the best of condition as it was over 20 years old.

yeah i know, if i had a pair i would of kept them... i dont know why i didnt stick it on ebay with the the recaro rail for 99p, might of got something for it.  not the only stupid thing ive done though, the worst was i had a mint set of original seats for it when i first bought it... never got round to putting them in and after the smash i was hard up so sold them.  :sad:

Thanks mate, you're probably right.... I think the desperate MOT things now are 2 tyres and the steering rack gaitor which has been melted by the four branch!...

A little addition to the big update, finally found a genuine GTI wing thats in good enough condition to make mint again.  wasnt going to settle for a pattern panel and theres been some right nasty over priced sh*t around.  at inters a guy wanted £45 for rust.. got this for 20.



bit of a gamble as the ebay pics showed nothing but was worded honestly. 





just had quick rub down and a couple of coats of rust treatment to see what the crack was.





Its a bit pitted in the corner and has a minor dent so its gonna need a bit of work.  the inside is mint so i think it will do the job when i'm done with it.

looking good mate. MK1 wings are hard to find at the right price!

Glad you went for a genuine part. Pattern pannels can be spotted a mile off :laugh:
