Transporter 61 plate
« on: 17 July 2016, 21:10 »
Hello,

My company has got a 61 plate transporter, my boss would like to know if we could change it into a 6 seater crew bus.

Currently it is a 3 seater with a bulk head. I'm guessing you can add an extra 3 seats and put the bulk head further back .

Cheers

I don't know how you would be able to fit seat belts securely but you could contact the local mot station and get details or contact Volkswagen and get advice from them .
Good luck .

Lots of companies offer conversions with seats.

The seat bench should be typed approved (complete with belts) and anchored to the floor much like factory fit seats would be

I suspect the van would probably be subject to an enchanced MOT

Plenty of people around that can do this, a simple google search would help!

Google Transporter Conversions and call one, they will be able to price it for you straight away!

My dad did that to his t5 but it wasn't cheap, he bought a bench seat and rails for a caravelle, fitted them then put down some floor boards with a resin like matting glued down, it's very good and two blokes can lift the bench out the back if needed, its a popular conversion. The seat belts are part of the bench
