so apart from the general consensus that everybody (ok a couple) thinks they are crap does anybody actually know of a site with loads of steel pics???
I've had a look on etka DH and although useful to get the general idea, photos would be a lot better than line drawings.
Oh and crap or not I'd much rather run steels on my rat through the winter than my bbs.

You got any pics of your dad's split ?

Crap or not is functionally defined by what the wheel weighs.  The weight of your wheels has a profound effect on the handling of your car.

As some may have noticed I've started weighing wheels, to find out what wheels are going to be functionally better.  I'm interested to weigh a G60 steel as I should hate to think I'm discounting them as a choice just because steels = heavy when they might not be.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

I had steels on my Classic Mini a few years ago. They were similar offset to the previous alloys I had and had the same tyres but I never got round to weighing them! However, i used to drive that car like I stole it and never noticed any difference between the steels or the alloys. However, they were 70's technology, so that could make a bit of difference anyway! I just thought it looked better (and a bit harder) than the Minilights you usually see...

Keeping schtum. Mostly.

They are massively heavy trust me, mine have tyres on so, can't weigh just the wheel, but they must be nearly twice the weight of my BBS RS, I know that much.

Don't bother as a track wheel. I only have mine because they are a cheap 'cop out' as Joe says !
