As title. Just changing gear, maybe a little hard but still, somethings gone wrong. Clutch pedal on floor... sh!t loads of plastic from around pedal box area, it's a 1999 V reg 1.8 20vt. Are they cable clutches? As it looks like something which holds the cable in place? It's disintegrated anyway :(

I had a feeling they're hydraulic?

I had to start it whilst rammed in 2nd to get it home, brakes are fine etc dunno if they're linked... but it couldn't have come at a worse time :( Had my hours cut and obviously am dreaming that I can afford to keep this car. Only just had it too! lol.

Any help, advice on what it can be? Gonna try get my mechanic pick it up tomorrow :(

I'm sure they are all hydraulic. You may have just done what Barry did,

Have a gander at barry-gti's project -

It was pitch black so just nursed it home and came in.. it could be the spring and the plastic clips which hold bits and bobs in place... most annoying :( Bad timing a plenty, work in the morning.. er maybe not lol.

happend on mine the other month! very common happens on all mk4s eventually! :(

good thing is, you can do it your self and the part all in costs about £30 from vw.

the bad thing is, its the most trickiest (not hard) trickiest!!! job i have done on a car lol!

as said, use that 2nd link the guy above posted and read it carefully before you try

Cheers guys, those are the links I have read yeah, I'm waiting on a lift to go VW to get the bits just now and trying get a mobile mechanic come out today.. if not, will have to be tomorrow and will get it sorted asap due to work :(

Does seem to be a snapped clutch pedal though!

Thanks :)

lol I've just been trying get the plastic off from below steering wheel without luck, nevermind the rest :D

Got the parts now just waiting on a mobile mechanic @ 1 and if he doesn't show (sposed be a dub specialist) I will get it sorted by a friend tomorrow who's a mechanic whilst he's off work.

Cars now all sorted. I pedalled (!!!!) to VW to get the bits thanks to the thread/guide on uk-mkiv's (pedal and 2 clips), ripped my lower trim off to save time as I can manage that, got a mobile mechanic out (local dub specialist, SDW automotive if you're in Staffordshire, awesome work!) who really impressed me by having it sorted in 20 mins, in the rain, AND fitting my trim back on and only charging me £20 quid.

So £45 quid including paying a pro labour, I'm happy. (sort of! lol)

What an utter crap design flaw though, I'll get my old pedal welded as a spare methinks!
