exhaust manifold
« on: 20 May 2003, 21:50 »
I have a 1990 GOLF GTI 8v, I want to know how good the 4 branch manifolds from TSR are, compared with the standard manifold? the reason I ask is that with the heat wrap & labour for putting one on it works out at about 400 quid wich seems quite expensive if there is not a great difference in performance compared with the standard one. Also does any one know where you can get a 4 branch as good as a TSR one, but cheaper?. My car currently has a jet ex filter & a full scorpion exhaust.
Any responce would be apreciated.

cheers!

Haven't had much experience myself, but you won't see the real benefit unless you get a gas flowed head.
Although with your filter and exhaust it'll definately be more respnsive and you will see and increase in torque.
Ansa also specialise in manifolds.

Hi there,
A mate of mine was once lucky enough to try a 4-2-1 without having to buy one first and did a test between this and a standard set-up, but ported the manifold.
I suppose it all depends on the manifold used, but he found the standard one flowed was as good as the 4-2-1 route.
Pays your money.......
