Its just a bit of a facelifted mk5?
And im not even sure if i like the facelift?
-
When I first saw a mk5 GTI, I thought, yep love it. There are just too many features I don't like on this one:
Steering Wheel
Headlights
Front Grill and badge
Rear lights
Cheap looking sparkly plastic on the trim detail. When they get round to releasing the real mk6 (a full new design) I hope they don't do a half baked job like this one

No offence Wob but it's been well publicised for around 18 months that the MKVI is just a facelift with a few suspension tweaks and a cut back on building costs. I'm amased some people still find this a surprise. Even VW in their press releases state it's not an all new car.

^^agreed Nick, nothing new people on here have been talking about it for months!

Its growing on me day by day - felt the same as you for the first few days.

the front of the gti looks sweet as, 100% better than the mk5 but i dont like the tail lights, they are a very bland design

Half-arsed front grill, side and back look okay, love the interior but not the chavy seats.

I can understand why they changed the front grill. it made the car look taller for a start but i think it also had more to do with FORDs are using a similar grill, SEAT is, AUDI, and MITSUBISHI are too. They kept the wheel which were loved by nearly everyone and look at the complaints they got there, can you imagine the number of people twisting if they had kept the grill too!
