MAF Sensor: How do I clean it?
« on: 19 February 2009, 23:27 »
Please help me with the MAF Sensor - I think it needs changing but I would rather clean it - diagrams of how to remove it for the non-turbo 1.8 would be great and advice on what to use to clean it as well.

Can't remember where I found it but I read recently that you can put the MAF in a plastic bag, fill it with Isopropyl alchohol, give it a good shake, then dry it with a hair dryer. This is supposedly successful.

what ive always done that to be honest, had no problems yet, do it at every service, and always change the air filter every 10k as this is what knackers them cause VW only do them at 20k.
