Better looking than the Golf IMO, and it’s nice to see some conventional buttons below the infotainment screen, along with the sliding cover over the cup holders. Double gas struts under the bonnet too, rather than the manual prop that the mk8 Golf has.

Looking at the new Skoda Octavia. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhQkzG4aoNk
Not only do I think it looks better than the Mk8 Golf but the interior quality is a step up too.
Even a covered cup holder!

I think this design is a far far more elegant effort than the Golf.
It’s too big a car for me to consider but they’ve done a fantastic job of the styling. I particularly like it in silver.
Covered cup holders & gas bonnet lifts too. Small details but when you’re paying the sort f money these cars now command the little luxuries become important when superminis are almost the same size and significantly cheaper with not much less kit.

In one of the large shopping centers last week and they had the new SEAT range there on display and they had (I think) their equivalent of the Tiguan but in the Cupra form with 4 tailpipes and the interior was so much better than any seen previously, in fa the whole car was really nice, and though the SUV type is not my thing, if it was, it would be seriously looked at

Those buttons are there on the Golf too aren't they?

Sliding cup holders... you mean like on the mk7? (I've never shut the thing since I've had it)

Current: Mk8 GTI DSG, Adelaides, DCC, HUD, HK, Winter Pack, Rear Camera.. Aka "HMS Weasel"

Gone: 2017 Mk7.5 GTD,manual, NavPro
Gone: 2014 Mk7 GTD, manual, NavPro, DCC

No, what looks like buttons immediately below the infotainment screen in the Golf is a touch sensitive panel that you slide your finger along to adjust the heating / ventilation temp (outer sections) and radio volume (middle section).

Apart from the buttons on the steering wheel, which I’d personally use to adjust the radio volume rather than the touch sensitive panel below the infotainment screen, I think the only facia mounted button is the one to operate the hazard warning lights. The functions on the small panel surrounding the hazard warning button between the two centre air vents is also a touch panel, as are the controls for functions such as lights and heated rear window (separate touch screen between instrument binnacle and driver’s door window).

That'll be the Cupra Ateca. I looked at one before Christmas and while it looks great from outside it didn't exactly blow me away on the test drive. Interior was ok but nothing special considering it's a 40k plus car.

We looked at the Cupra Ateca too, before the R.

Booked a test drive with the local dealer.

Arrived and they tried to give us a 1.4 manual instead saying “ it’s the same car”
