Yes, I'd agree that the next 3-4 years is probably my last fully ICE car.

VW themselves have said that the Mk8 is the last Golf haven't they? Which is something like 2027 if I remember correctly.

Current: Mk8 GTI DSG, Adelaides, DCC, HUD, HK, Winter Pack, Rear Camera.. Aka "HMS Weasel"

Gone: 2017 Mk7.5 GTD,manual, NavPro

Damn it. Dynamic sweep indicators at the front!!!

I still don’t like those headlights and bumper fins though. A backward step in some respects. Mk 7.5 looks much better at the front imo.

Starting to quite like the Mk8 GTE now;-

Not sure about the (lack of) steering wheel buttons though  :undecided:

Also, looks like the Tiguan is getting a Mk8 inspired facelift too...

The seats look good.

I really do hate shiny black glossy plastics though. What’s wrong with faux brushed aluminium or faux carbon fibre? Glossy black just looks cheap & nasty. And it’s fingerprint magnet.

I hope you can spec to delete the GTE / GTI on the hatch - it looks terrible imo

Easy enough to remove yourself if VW don’t offer the badge delete option.

To be fair, short of a couple of decent sized pipes out the back at least we have a pretty good idea what the mk8 GTI and R will look like and I have to admit not as bigger munter as the standard spec cars!!

Maybe there is one more ICE on the cards for me after all?!?! although the GTE does make more sense for me personally! :undecided:

The seats on the GTE video were looking more like faux bucket seats than the current MK7.5 standard seats.  There is also a fair bit to like about the MK8 more than I initially thought.  Wonder what the GTI and R will have in store?

Have to agree after hating the look of the new Mk8 its growing on me and the GTE does show some promise for the GTI and R.

Do we think reveal of GTI at Geneva in March and Clubsport (now dead TCR) at Worthersee in May?

Its possible for a reveal of GTI in march at geneva?  Depends on how soon they wish to push the performance models out.  My guess is soon.  Whether we will see a Golf R MK8 this year is a bit less certain.  But if the press is to be believed we may see a Golf R Mk8 by end of the year?
