Hello all,
Just joined site today as I just had my first problem with my MK4 Golf GTI, its service light is blinding me.
The problems I am having are:
1) car drives great except now if I try to "floor it" when overtaking etc, it seems to loose powre and stutters, yet if I accelerate slowly it runs perfect!
2) under my pedals I started to notice a knocking when driving fast on smooth roads, as if it is a loose exhaust, but I checked it and its not loose, rubber mounts are intact from what I see.
I guess I could live with the knocking but the loss of power worries me.
I got myself error code reader and cable, FREE version but yet it does the trick with a registry monitor
here is what I found...
16806 - Main Catalyst: Bank 1 : Efficiency Below Threshold
P0422 - 35-00
17834 - EVAP Purge Valve (N80): Open Circuit
P1426 - 35-10
any help or advice apart from taking it to a garage would be great !
