well I've been having fun the last few days on a mk1 Golf GTI (79) and I thought a front wheel bearing had gone, but no the drives side front wheel hub was half worn away (see pics below), thus why the bearing has gone... so be careful when changing wheel bearings, make sure there is no wear on the hub itself as pictured below as this is a sure sign of a wheel bearing locking up and someone not replacing the hub when putting a new wheel bearing on,
some people have no idea about fixing cars.
I looked up and all 4 wheel stud front wheel hubs for mk1 golf's from 75 - 84 are the same, so I managed to get hold of a genuine VW one from VWSpeed.co.uk for 29.00 delivery for tomorrow (wednesday) - this company also owns OEM Parts as well... Mike there was very useful.
I spoke to VW they wanted 66.80 and I would of had to wait 1 week for the part - shocking....
I also spoke to GSF and they do them as well 10.00 + VAT, but they didn't have any in stock and I need the parts today or tomorrow...
