Evening all,

So i have been searching for a way to re-program the mileage on some new clocks i've had for some time and i've finally done it.

so first off i did no create vdo.exe or mm.exe. these are the two files that are used to program the clocks. it was from a german site i can no longer find.

On the back on the clocks it will say if they are motometer or vdo clocks.

i have created a bootable iso with all the software tools you need to do this.

You will need:

My iso - https://www.dropbox.com/s/yr33cqxfn9nq2v6/Vag%20Clock%20bootdisk.iso?dl=0

Dupont connectors with wire attached

12v power supply

old laptop with a parallel port.

parallel male connector.

a meter of 3 core cable.

so the dupont connectors are used to push onto the pins at the back of the clocks.

 you will need to send:
12v + to pins 11 & 13
ground - to pins 3 & 5

you will need to make a cable from the clocks to the parallel connector -

link to the pinout -  https://www.dropbox.com/s/a8wdd4jsugf4tdz/Tachokabel_neu_schaltplan.JPG?dl=0

i have made a quick video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_X2JWQbCy2I

this guide is very rough atm as i'm in a rush. i will be back to tidy it up with more pictures etc but the video should explain most of it.

i cannot be responsible for you damaging your own clocks! play safe

Hi, a long time ago now, but I've searched all over the internet and really struggling to find instructions for connecting the instrument cluster to serial/parallel port and using the vdo or mm files to change the mileage... I really don't want to try and remove the eeprom chip to rewrite!  This is for a mk 3 cluster going in my old mk 2 golf, I just want to align the cluster with the true mileage of the vehicle.

The link to the iso file above doesn't work, I suspect everything I need is on there...

Many thanks...

Send part numbers or photos of both clusters and their mileage.

You can only send PMs if you've got a certain number of posts.
