Title: Damaged tyre after hitting kerb

Hi all,

I would like some expert opinion on something if possible.

I hit a kerb during bad weather after exiting a roundabout, and this left my alloy scratched and my tyre sliced on the sidewall as shown on these pictures.

I stopped to check the damages and drove back home for another 20 miles without noticing any vibration in the steering wheel and the car still drove straight without leaning to the left or to the right.

Do you guys think it is worth me bringing the car to a garage to have the tyre checked and running the risk of them flogging me new tyres anyway, or does it look ok?

That tyre looks like it’s goosed - best way to be sure is to take it to a decent independent (preferably one that also fits and repairs HGV tyres) and get their opinion, but to my semi-educated eye it looks a bit to close to the bead.
I’d get the tracking checked as well if you are concerned.
