Manged to get a few more bits sorted yesterday. Drag the 1.8t back in the workshop yesterday to take off the bits that arnt needed.

Gearbox split off ready to get the g60/sachs clutch fitted:


Also removed the ac bracket etc spo this can be cut down.

Then fitted a new cambelt kit:



Also gave the gearbox a quick was off as well:

Update from the bodyshop:





Also been doing a few more bits to the engine

Modifyed the AC and alternator bracket:


Cleaned the bracket up:

Also fitted the rear engine bracket:

Paint shop have sent me some more pcitures this afternoon:










Also have tried fitting the seat cable clutch conversion to the 02J geabox and the braket that holds the cable wont go on as the reverse light switch is in the way:


So have had to remove the switch and mod the gearbox fopr teh braket to fit :


Will be making a screw in bung for the hole with a bolt cut to size:

Bung made for the reverse switch:



Will locktite this in. Should have the flywheel here today so should be able to get teh flywheel and clutch fitted and the box back on the block.

So we now have the Seat clutch cable conversion braket fitted to the 02j gearbox:




Just waiting on some flywheel bolts and some bolts to hold the second bracket to the gearbox which should all be here today.

Shes all flatted back and now with primer:

Sorry for the multi posts etc but this now brings this up to date from September last year.

Also new cam cover gasket fitted, all brackets are now on the engine, starter motor replaced. G60 flywheel and sachs clutch fitted.

Also ordered the right alternator belt, oil filter, gasket for throttle body, 1.3 acelarator cable.

Going to body shop today as i have a nice powder coated sunroof deflector to be fitted when it starts to go back together.

Well some more news car is going for a few bits of paint on friday

I've seen a 'few bits of paint'.  You appear to be having a complete respray done.  You need to mind that detailing OCD - it can get out of hand.  :wink:

Yes it jas got some what out of hand, althought its not a full respray! Not painting the passenger side or the rear boot plinth and below.

This was meant to be a cheap project :shocked: :grin:
