16v aluminium radiator
« on: 19 August 2017, 11:04 »
Has anyone fitted one of the aluminium radiators that are on eBay for around £110?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aluminum-radiator-for-VW-CORRADO-SCIROCCO-JETTA-GOLF-GTI-MK2-1-8-16V-1986-1992-/282259737127?epid=648622831&hash=item41b7fdca27:g:T1UAAOSwnDZT7XYC

They are the correct dimensions for a 16v and have twin cores, I'm guessing they will last a lifetime.

A cheap single core is £60:

but obviously this isn't original specification.

My motto is always "buy cheap, buy twice" but I'm wary of buying a "cheap" aluminium rad... has anyone had any issues with them?

Well I ordered the aluminium radiator two days ago, due for delivery in a couple of weeks...except it came this afternoon!

It's superb quality, fits perfectly, the only caveat is that you need to replace the 4 electric fan mounting bolts and the 4 front air duct bolts - you will need eight M5x12 bolts.

It works perfectly, just like my original did. The only thing to be wary of is the fact that it is obviously very hot to touch because the sides are all aluminium with no plastic guards.

Highly recommended.
